I really see the thing like these westerners do. chinese people run away as I was told by european 'coward'. chinese people or malaysian, open your mind, why don't all of you like these english speaking people united, say to yourself we can do it, build our country slowly and attact they to come here and bring the money here. rather than finding the short way run away and bring our hardworking malaysian money over there and one thing for sure ' you won't stay at the top of white'. As they know asian people too easily to be influenced and that's how you are in these people 'TRAP'.

Tell you one thing, if you thing you are smart, show it in malaysia and change. If you are run away to australia or some other place, let me tell you one thing ' SIMPLY YOU ARE NOT GOOD'. Singapore is doing well so far, but I strongly believe we can do it better if you have strong mentality. Don't listen to people say australia is good and go there. I believe these people more likely stay at home and lonely all the time in australia and try to 'SMART' when coming back to malaysia, pretending he/she doing very good in australia.

'Come on we malaysia can do it'. Like British people send the prisoners to 'desert' australia 200 years back and they believe they can build australia. Why don't we never try and already lose. Please you malaysian have some sense, they are rich because we keep bring our money there and you always become 2nd class!

All i have to say, build your country for next generation rather than running away. I don't hate westerners because I have very good relationship with a lot of white friends everywhere. I think this just a game, you smart you always at the top. If you are smart, do something for your people and don't simply waste your talent!

My best enjoying moment was when I went to Jalan Duta IRD to tutup account last year.  To no longer paying tax to the people who discriminate against me is most satisfying.

In terms of weather, foods, distance, air travel & fare....  Australia is still a better bet than Europe.  Ait tickets alone cost us RM16k+ (2 adults+ 2 kids) for a trip home last summer.

My top reasons...

1) To give the kids better opportunities. Opportunities they can achieve based on their abilities, instead of skin colour and political connections

2) To spend more time with the kids, and be more engaged in their upbringing.

Do you think Malaysia will reach developed status in the year 2020???? I think otherwise. Go read Micheal Friedman's book titled "The World is Flat". Malaysia is running in the opposite direction in all the conditions stated in Friedman's book in order for a country to survive in the globalised world.

I believe Malaysia will become what Indonesia is today in the year 2020. There will be some rich people.... mainly benefitted from being associated with one party. These people will have the right connection to get big projects, pocket some money, and pass it on to other Chinaman to implement the projects. As such, a RM5million per km highway will be inflated to RM20mil!!

The middle class will have to struggle a fair bit just to get by. There will be an increase of population in the lower-middle to the lower-lower class. Jobs are hard to come by, especially unskilled ones like machine operator in the factory. This is due to the dwindling of foreign investors coming into the country and also the migration of production plants from Malaysia to other developing countries within Asia. Crime rate will continue to increase due to inadquate jobs for people (particularly illegal migrants from Indonesia that have obtained PR or citizenship) without skills. In short, you will need to have some money in order to LIVE A LIFE in Malaysia. If not, you will just be like any tom, dick, and harry...s. Work like a dog, save up some money, take a 7-9 year loan to buy a car, and by the time your kids reach university years... you will have little money left as most of your savings will be ploughed into your kids education expenses!!!

I think the list of reasons provided ah vincent is quite comprehensive!!  And I totally agree with it.

And Dave said it all when he mentioned that we are living a life here and participating in it when we are citizens. Not merely staying in a country as a squatter like we are back in KL.

If you are holding a high position and earning above RM150,000 pa, then good on you! But can you say that your kids will have the same position and salary in M'sia 15-20 years from now!  I doubt you'll be able to do that.

Here if the kids can't study in uni due to their lack of interest, they can be a tradesman ie. plumber, brick layer, electrician or some sort of technician.  They will not be looked down upon as in KL and they will make  a good living so as long they are hard working.

In the end, everyone who migrates have their own reasons and you must have your own strong convictions to see it thru.  There's always pros and cons in everything and migration is not an exception.  But I believe that the pros heavily outweighs the cons here in downunder!!

That's my own 2 cents worth!

Why would I want to be a second class citizen, take orders from a boss who is an absolute idiot and he only got there because of his race. And I got no chance of further advancement because I belong to a different race.

Why would I want to put up with a high crime rate and a and failing police force.

Why would I want to live in fear with a judicial system and political system that I cannot trust?

Why would I want to live in a country where corruption is everywhere and the corrupt few is getting very very rich (in the billions) and yet a lot of common people are suffering with no relief in sight.

Go out and see the real world, see for yourself the poverty in the less affluent parts of the country. There are lots of people living on rm1000 a month with no hope of ever improving their lives. It helps to get down from the ivory tower and take off those rose colored glasses.

What can your children look forward to in terms of education and equal opportunities? The future for the non elite is looking dimmer by the day and the leaders are getting dimmer by the minute.

BUT I can think of many things why you want to stay. If you got money it is still a beautiful country.

Why would I want to hold on to my so called high position in Malaysia when I do not see a future for my kids????

Your statement ".... just to stay in Australia" is absolutely incorrect. We are living a LIFE here!!!

I sold of my condo and car over in KL so that I could stay in a bungalow and drive a 4.0L car over here. I could only DREAM of living in a bungalow and driving a big capacity car in Bolehland! Sacrifice??? Yes but it is worth it!!! Looking back, I have no regrets making the move.
